Want to Lose Weight? Here's What We DON'T Do at Real Forking Change.

Coach Chloe's weight loss was only part of her story.

What changed on the outside…

is only part of the story.

If weight loss is one of your goals right now, I get it. I wanted it really badly, too.

Maybe you're concerned about your metabolic health, your joints, or simply feeling better physically. Those are meaningful reasons to want to change your weight.

But there's another reason that desire can feel so powerful.

The sad truth is that we still live in a world where thinner bodies are often treated as more acceptable, attractive, and valuable than larger ones.

We want to fit in. We want to feel comfortable in our clothes. We want to move through the world without worrying about how we're being seen or judged.

And for those of us who've struggled with out-of-control eating, there's often another layer of shame.

The eating we do in secret. The promises we make to ourselves and then break. The frustration of feeling so capable in other areas of our lives, yet unable to change this one thing.

Sometimes our weight becomes a visible reminder of a struggle we've been desperately trying to hide.

So yes, weight loss matters to many of us. And if it's your goal, it's something we can work toward together.

I was pretty good at losing weight. But keeping it off? That was another story.

I spent years trying to find the right diet. The one that would finally help me lose weight AND keep it off.

But even when I lost the weight, I hadn't changed the patterns that kept pulling me back into overeating, bingeing, and starting over.

That's why Real Forking Change is based on a recovery model, not a dieting model.

And that changes just about everything.

Most diets focus on what you need to do to lose weight. Follow the plan. Count the calories. Exercise more. Reach your goal.

But what happens when life gets stressful, the fresh-start excitement wears off, or you eat something that's not on your plan?

For so many of us, that's when the cycle begins again.

At Real Forking Change, we focus on changing the patterns that keep that cycle going.

And some of the things we do might surprise you.

  1. We DON'T count calories. Because we're not interested in turning eating into a math problem. We focus on food groups, satisfying meals, and quantities that work for our bodies.

  2. We DON'T exercise to burn off what we ate. We don't exercise to earn food or compensate for what we've eaten. We move to build strength, support our health, and feel good in our bodies. Not to earn dessert.

  3. We DON'T change everything at once. Trying to overhaul your food, exercise, sleep, and entire life on Monday? That's a great way to be overwhelmed by Wednesday. We prioritize and build gradually.

  4. We DON'T believe everything has to be eaten in moderation. For some of us, certain foods flip a switch. One bite leads to wanting more and more. We learn which foods trigger that response and create boundaries that give us freedom.

  5. We DON'T pretend all foods affect us the same way. We prioritize Real Forking Food and reduce ultra-processed foods that can make managing cravings and appetite harder.

  6. We DON'T expect you to become a gourmet chef. Frozen vegetables, rotisserie chicken, pre-cut produce, and simple meals? Yes, please. Convenience is welcome.

  7. We DON'T leave eating to chance. We plan ahead. We create structure around meals, timing, and quantities. Because making food decisions when we're exhausted and stressed isn't always a recipe for success.

  8. We DON'T expect food to meet all our emotional needs. Stress, loneliness, boredom, anxiety? Food can offer temporary comfort, but it can't give us what we truly need. We learn other ways to soothe ourselves and regulate our nervous systems.

  9. We DON'T put our lives on hold until we lose weight. We start living differently now. We build habits we can sustain, whether or not the scale moves as quickly as we'd like.

Because here's something I've learned:

Structure and boundaries don't necessarily equal restriction. When they come from a place of self-love instead of punishment, they can actually create freedom.

And I know that because I've experienced it myself.

Losing weight isn't what finally taught me to love and trust myself.

That came from making commitments to myself and learning how to follow through, even when things weren't perfect. From building habits that supported my health. From learning how to respond to difficult emotions without always turning to food.

And from realizing I could live this way consistently, without constantly fighting myself.

And that's what I want for you, too.

Not just a smaller body, if that’s your goal.

But the confidence that comes from trusting yourself. The peace that comes from no longer feeling controlled by food. And the freedom to put your energy into everything else that makes your life meaningful.

Because your worth was never determined by your weight. And you don't have to wait until you lose it to start living differently.

You don't need another restart. You need a new rhythm.

Fork the Diets. Find your freedom. 🧡

Important side note! What if you're using a GLP-1 medication?

Maybe you've lost weight with the help of a GLP-1 medication, or you're considering one. These medications can be powerful tools for managing appetite and reducing food noise. But there's still value in building sustainable eating habits, learning to manage stress and emotions without always turning to food, and incorporating movement and strength training into your life. Whether you continue taking medication or eventually stop, these skills can support your health and well-being for the long term. And Real Forking Change can help you build them.
