When we work our whole bodies with intentional exercises, it’s practice for working our bodies in real life. Usually, it’s when we're doing everyday tasks like lifting heavy bags of groceries or getting out of the low seat of a car when we tend to injure ourselves. Practicing movement patterns, proper form, building strength, and learning how to brace our core is preventative medicine. And it feels good!

 

We all lose muscle and bone density as we age, leading to risks from falls. Strength training improves both, minimizing the impacts. It also improves cognitive function, emotional wellbeing (think about those feel-good brain chemicals!), and connects us to our bodies. It's as much about mental health as physical health.
